WHAT DO I NEED FOR AUDITIONS?
It will largely depend on what kind of show it is. Some directors will require that you prepare a short monologue, usually in the genre of the show that you are auditioning for.
If you are auditioning for a musical, please come prepared with 16 bars of a song that shows your vocal range.
If you have an acting resume and head shots, feel free to bring them. These will help directors come to decisions later, as they can go back to them for reference. This does not mean that they are required, but they are welcome.
Once you arrive, you will be asked to fill in a short form about your acting experience, which role(s) you would prefer, and your availability.
WHAT TIME AND DAY ARE AUDITIONS?
Audition dates are listed above. Auditions usually take place on a Sunday night, with a second night on Monday.
Auditions begin at 7:00 p.m.
DO I NEED TO SING OR DANCE TO BE IN A MUSICAL?
It largely depends on the show and the director. There are sometimes roles that do not do much if any singing and dancing, but this may not be the case. If you are auditioning for a musical, it is always recommended that you come prepared and are willing to try something new.
ARE THERE WAYS TO BE INVOLVED OTHER THAN BEING ON STAGE?
Of course! We could always use help in so many different facets of the theatre. Whether you are helping run the house, concessions, selling 50/50 tickets, or working backstage as part of the crew, we could almost always use some extra hands! Feel free to come to auditions and mark on a form that you are willing to work backstage, and we will do our best to find you a spot on our stage crew.
HOW LONG BEFORE I KNOW THE RESULTS OF THE AUDITIONS?
It largely depends on the director. For larger shows, it will may take a little longer for the director to reach a decision. Unfortunately, we can never guarantee when the directors will contact you. Information will most likely be given at auditions.
DO YOUR ACTORS GET PAID?
As a community theatre, we are unable to pay for our actors. All of our actors, stage crew, production teams, directors, and helpers are volunteers. Moonlight Players Theatre is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
